Carlie's Avon 3-Day Walk Pledge Page
More than almost any other serious disease breast cancer touches nearly all of us, whether we’re women or men, old or young. A woman’s chance of having breast cancer during her lifetime is one in eight. Your chance of knowing this woman is almost 100%.
'If I told you I’m walking 60 miles for 3 days to help women with undetected breast cancer find out early enough to survive would you support me?' I am! I’m participating in the “Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day,” joining more than 3,000 women and men to trek from Fort Worth to Dallas, April 26 – 28, 2002. That’s 3,000 women and men, some that may be breast cancer survivors, have a friend or relative with the disease or be fighting the disease right now. All who have come together in a show of support and kindness, who are there in hopes that others never have to feel the effects of this disease. I will be there walking with them. On this incredible 72 hour, 60 mile journey I will test my physical and emotional stamina. Although it falls short to the strength of a breast cancer survivor, I will be out there beside many of the survivors to make a statement and help fight breast cancer. Will you stand and fight with me? When I made the commitment to walk these 60 miles, I agreed to not only train hard so I could complete the walk, but also to raise $1,900 minimum for the cause in order to participate, although my personal goal is $3,000. I have made the commitment to walk, but I need your help to succeed. I’m asking you today to make a donation on behalf of all the women who have and who are fighting breast cancer. Your donation will go to programs that help women and men detect breast cancer early enough to survive with the ultimate end goal of a cure. Every little bit makes a difference, and donations are tax deductible. To make your contribution please go to the donate page of this website. Whichever method you choose I hope that you will choose to share this incredible experience with me. Donations must be in by March 15, 2002. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
